~Orientalism~

The spring collections were full of references to the orientalism of the 1920's, Marc Jacobs in particular making light of the gaudy way in which the West imitates Eastern cuture. For a more traditional exploration of oriental craftmanship, a new exhibition called L'Orient des Femmes has opened yesterday at Le musée du quai Branly. The exhibition is currated by Christian Lacroix pays homage to the style and craftsmanship of the clothing of oriental women. I can imagine its well worth a visit!

~Carpet Bags~

Handbag and jewelry designer Wendy Nichol has collaborated with bespoke textile producer Vanderhurd on a selection of limited edition clutches and handbags made from hand crafted silk dhurriade on traditional looms. As a result they are incredibly hard wearing and sure to last a life time, if you can get your hands on them. The first edition arrives in March at La Garçonne. (www.lagarconne.com)

~Milan~

I have been so excited about the menswear shows in Milan for Winter 2011/12. None more so than the Prada presentation which featured amazingly wearable wardrobe staples in black, navy, chocolate brown and claret. I want the whole lot for myself. Have a look at the collection below which includes footage of the incredible two storey catwalk.

~Muse- Diaghilev and the Ballet Russes~

~Silvia Furmanovich Orchid Cuffs~

These are possibly the most beautiful things I have ever seen. These cuffs, designed by Silvia Furmanovitch, are real orchids, which have been treated and then enamled and mounted with diamonds. The Brazil-based designer makes a range of earring's, broaches and bracelets all made out of real blossoms and each piece is one of a kind. Here is her website:

~Buckswood School by Numéro Homme~

Just came accross this shoot of the famous Buckswood school in East Sussex in Numéro Homme's SS09 issue. It reminded me of some of the pictures that Cecil Beaton took of the 'bright young things' and I thought I would share it with you to see if you feel the same.
